Sign up to be a volunteer youth flag football coach!

To help ensure player safety, all TFFA coaches and referees are required to complete a national background check and Child Safety training (approximately 30 minutes online) through Protect Youth Sports. Individuals with serious offenses, including crimes against children, violent crimes, or sexual offenses, are not permitted to participate. Player safety is always our top priority.

- Volunteer coaches must complete the background check process, which includes a $16.00 application fee plus applicable taxes, and successfully complete the Child Safety training course (a certificate will be provided upon passing the follow-up test).

- As a thank you for volunteering, approved coaches may waive the $150 player registration fee for one child. (Limited to one child per approved coach.)

Please note: Background check fees are non-refundable, including for applications that do not pass the screening process.

Coach Preparation & Expectations

To best prepare your team for the season, all coaches should review and become familiar with the 5v5 Youth Rulebook located below. Understanding the rules will help ensure games run smoothly and that players learn the fundamentals of the game.

Coaches are expected to:

  •  arrive early to set up their practice area
  • be prepared with warm-up drills, skill development activities, and practice plays
This preparation helps maximize the one-hour practice time before games and keeps players engaged.

Our goal is for every player to feel confident, supported, and prepared to compete.

Coaches play an important role in creating a positive environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, effort, and fun while helping players develop their skills.
